From medically supervised detox through outpatient care, Elgin Rehab offers a full continuum of addiction treatment — hospital-grade and evidence-based, delivered close to home in Elgin.
Medical detox at Elgin Rehab typically lasts 3 to 7 days, with licensed medical staff on site around the clock. Withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and fentanyl can be physically dangerous, so we provide continuous monitoring and medication-assisted treatment to keep you safe and as comfortable as possible.
Detox is the stabilizing first step, not the whole journey. The moment you are medically ready, we transition you into residential or outpatient care so the hardest days lead directly into lasting recovery.
Our residential program runs 30 to 90 days in a structured, around-the-clock environment. Days are learning-focused — psychoeducation, addiction-science workshops, and guided exercises — alongside individual and group therapy, with family sessions woven throughout.
Patients live on site with access to private rooms, the heated therapy pool, library, and meditation room, while clinicians deliver neuroscience-based, individualized care.
Elgin Rehab offers two outpatient levels: a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) of 2 to 4 weeks and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) of 8 to 12 weeks. Both let you keep working, stay near family, and apply what you learn in real time, with the structure of regular clinical sessions.
Because we are based in Elgin, outpatient care is genuinely accessible — no daily commute to Chicago to attend sessions. It works as a step down from residential treatment or as a starting point for those whose lives allow recovery while living at home.
Dual diagnosis means treating addiction and a co-occurring psychiatric condition — such as depression, anxiety, or PTSD — at the same time, by the same team. Treating only the substance use while leaving the underlying condition unaddressed is among the most common reasons recovery does not hold.
Our psychiatrists and therapists integrate medication management, EMDR, and somatic and trauma-informed therapy into one coordinated plan, so the whole person is treated rather than a set of disconnected symptoms.
Our days are learning-focused: patients leave understanding the science of their own recovery, which research links to better long-term outcomes.
